Pastor’s Note: Good Grief

This past Sunday, we had a great turnout and a great time at the Stampede Breakfast. It was a joy for me to talk with so many of you and to get my face painted with the kids! This Sunday, we return to our regular weekly worship. And as we begin a new series on “creeds and compassion,” I’m reminded that it is always the case that while some of us are celebrating and rejoicing, others are grieving and celebrating. God is with us all. And it’s a big honour when we get to join God—whether it be rejoicing with those who rejoice or sitting alongside those who mourn. This Sunday, we’ll begin looking at the first two lines of the Apostle’s Creed: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.” As we prepare to do that, I encourage you to wonder where God has already shown himself to you. Take some time today to wonder at God, his power, his care, and his character. You might be surprised to see how present—and how powerful—he is.
Join us Sunday morning for a meaningful time of worshipping our God together

Offerings:

Our designated offering is for Shalem, a Christian senior living community in SW Calgary. Shalem began in the 1970s when several Reformed churches, including ours, recognized the need for Christian-based senior housing. Today Shalem is home to 165 residents, nine of whom are River Park members. Shalem believes we can flourish at any age, rooted in God's love and grace.

RPC Family & Prayer Needs:

  • Thanks to the Lord for the season of slowing down in our church year. May the Lord provide us opportunities to rest, rejuvenate, and spend time with friends and family. Our Lord is the great provider and gives us what we need during every season of life. Pray for traveling mercies as many begin to go on vacations. May the Lord watch over us as we enjoy the summer months.
  • Please keep our shut-ins in your prayers. May they feel God's comfort and peace as they face health challenges, loneliness, and the trials of each new day.RPC has a committed prayer group who are willing to pray for you or with you, whatever your need or thanksgiving. If you wish to join the prayer team please contact Alice Hagens with your prayer requests or for more information on the prayer group: prayerministry@riverparkchurch.com.
